Presentation Description

The purpose of the Enriching Program is to offer people from all walks of life, and from all parts of the world, six core skills to enhance their relationship with themselves and others. The skills were derived from the work of Virginia Satir. The presenters, representing a variety of cultures, will lead you in a review of key concepts presented in Enriching I* and in experiential exercises to deepen your use of the skills. For those wishing to become certified trainers in the Enriching Program, this day will meet one of the requirements. Once certified, trainers can design the training in a form that best fits their needs.

Objectives:

  • Identify the six key concepts of the Enriching Program.

  • Analyze the ways that the skill can be applied as sequential steps or applied separately.

  • Utilize and deepen their ability to apply the skills to their own lives.

Presenters:

Sharon Loeschen, LCSW is the author of the book Enriching Your Relationship with Yourself and Others and The Satir Process, as well as the co-creator of the Enriching Program. Sharon practices as a clinical social worker in Southern California and teaches part-time at California State University Long Beach. She is also a member of the Virginia Satir Global Network Board.

 

Margarita Suarez, RN, MA, co-creator of the Enriching Program, has had a wide variety of personal and professional experiences (from Cuba, to US, to Vietnam, as an Army nurse). The breadth of her experiences are reflected in her wisdom, humor, creativity and the practicality. She has worked for several years with Sharon Loeschen in teaching and adapting the Enriching Program.

 

Shala Samsamy is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the US. She was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, where she became one of the first women lawyers. As a certified trainer in the Enriching Program, she brings knowledge from law, political science and journalism as well as psychology. She has been inspired by the work of Virginia Satir, viewing her as a hero, and is now excited to have the chance to teach her work to the world.

 

Gundolf Strehl is a therapist in Germany working with families, couples, singles and children. He has a special interest in working with children with ADHD and feels guided by the philosophy of Virginia Satir. He recently completed a translation of the Satir Process into German, which will be published in the fall of 2008.

 

Grace Yung has been an active leader promoting The Satir Growth Model through her volunteer work at the Hong Kong Satir Center. She founded the Green Pastures Whole Person Development Centre, where she is a counselor, clinical supervisor and trainer. Grace is a PhD candidate researching clinical supervision using The Satir Growth Model of psychotherapy.
