Presentation Description

Numerous Asian countries have welcomed the Satir Model with enthusiasm—especially Hong Kong and Taiwan. John will share why this is so and describe programs now being offered.

 

Objectives:

  • Describe the major elements used in the effectiveness of the programs and teaching of the Satir Model and how these elements also sustain the growth of the Satir Model in Asia.

  • Identify the role of local leadership in the growth of the Satir Model in Asia

  • Discuss the essential components of the Satir Model as this is expressed/represented in the four books (Meditation; Transformational; in her own words; Meditations).

Method of Conducting the Session:

Demonstration and small-group exercises.

Presenter:

John Banmen RPsych, RMFT, is an internationally known author, therapist and educator. He has co-authored or edited The Satir Model: Family Therapy and Beyond; Meditations and Inspirations; Meditations of Virginia Satir: Peace Within, Peace Between and Peace Among; Application of the Satir Growth Model and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy. He is working on expanding the use of the Satir Model in China and other Asian countries.
