Presentation Description: We will present a credible image of developing and sustaining an organic system within a hierarchical bureaucracy using The Satir Growth Model. You will learn about the Glenn County California’s System of Care program, a SAMHSA-funded site, and the context in which it thrives. You will experience a facilitated process with an actual change vehicle used with families in Glenn County. Time will be left for you to discuss what you learned and how it might apply to your own work.

Presenter: Cheryl Berge, M.S., LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Coordinator for Glenn County Health Services. She has studied with Steven Young and Maria Gomori for over 15 years. In her private practice she integrates the Satir philosophy and vehicles in an innovative equestrian program for youth and families. Cheryl lives in the mountains with her husband of 39 years, her 4 cattle dogs and 3 cats.
Eloise Jones, MA merges her global universal perceptions with the uniqueness of the individual particular. She has been integrating Satir concepts into her life for 20 years. She’s studied extensively with Steven Young and others. Eloise is part of the Glenn County Children’s System of Care leadership team. She coordinates a Satir training component for mental health professionals. She is on a variety of Satir-based committees and boards.
Kathy Montero, LMFT, is Project Director and Program Manager at Glenn County Mental Health. She has over 33 years experience leading children and family programs, one of which is a SAMHSA-funded System of Care model project. Kathy has trained in and implements the Satir philosophy and vehicles into her work with public systems, private practice and supervision.
Cindy Ross is Transition Age Youth Coordinator for Glenn County SAMHSA Children’s System of Care project. She works with children, youth and their families in a broad range of services, including drug and alcohol recovery, runaway programs and county mental health services. She has studied with Steven Young for over 15 years and incorporates Satir vehicles in her philosophy for her TAY program and the youth peer mentor program she supervises.
