Presentation Description: Theater of the Oppressed is a multi-faceted approach tying personal growth to systemic social change. It echoes The Satir Growth Model. Interactive games, body-oriented exercises and role-plays are used to explore internalized and external oppression preventing us from becoming who we really are. We will search for empowering strategies to help us confront our oppressions congruently and transformatively. We will also discuss using TO and Satir work for personal, family and cultural change in former Soviet Countries.
Objectives:

Presenters: Alexander "Sasha" Cheryomukhin, MA is President, Azerbaijan Psychological Association, Board Member, The IIC, studied The Satir Growth Model with Steven Young, Laura Dodson, Janet Christie-Seely and Kathy Maki Banmen. Coordinator of Movement Toward Civil Society programs. Facilitator of Theater of the Oppressed work—action technique for self and cultural realization and change.
Laura Dodson, MSW, Ph.D, is a Jungian Analyst who was also trained by Virginia Satir. She applies Virginia's work to Civil Society and to personal and family growth in former Soviet Countries. She is President of the Institute for International Connections, a Satir-based affiliate of Satir Global Network
