Presentation Description: 

This session examines and illuminates the challenges and successes of teaching high conflict parents how to effectively communicate in divorce, custody and reunification situations. The presenter will demonstrate Satir techniques for making contact and choosing the right tool at the appropriate time for maximum learning and therapeutic effect.  

 

Objectives:

  • Analyze the Satir tools that could reach families at times of high conflicts

  • Assess what are the issues and behaviors that are present in families with high conflict.

  • Explain communication techniques to use with the families

Presenters:

Diana Hall, LMFT, is a special education teacher working with emotionally disturbed teenagers and a group facilitator for perpetrators of domestic violence, anger management and parenting without abuse classes for the Mid-Peninsula Family Service Agency in Palo Alto, CA. With a private therapy practice specializing in co-parenting, custody cases, couples and children, Diane is also a rape crisis and suicide prevention counselor.
