Presentation Description: 

With the Internet, sex and pornography addiction have become an increasing difficulty for many individuals and the mental healthcare workers treating them. We will give an overview of the assessment and treatment of compulsive and addictive sexual disorders, and discuss how The Satir Growth Model can help individuals, spouses and partners gain recovery. Issues that will be discussed include the impact on spouse and partners and the need for them to engage in their own healing, and the impact of the Internet.

 

Objectives:

  • Participants will gain a basic understanding about the assessment and treatment of a sexual addiction, including the impact on spouses and partners.

  • Participants will gain insight into some of the root causes as well as the impact of the internet on sexual addiction.

  • Participants will be given ways that the Satir model can help facilitate healing and recovery in the treatment of sexual addiction.

  • Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and have discussion

Interactive discussion with experiential exercises.

Presenters:

Duane Osterlind, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Southern California. He is currently focusing on treating individuals with chemical and behavioral addictions, as well as sexual compulsiveness. Duane is also a certified trainer for the "Enriching Your Relationship with Yourself and Others" and the creator of the Enriching program for the internet.

 

Maureen Graves has worked for thirty one years in the field of addictions and traumas. She was co-founder and co-Director of New Hope Alcoholism and Addiction Center. She is now in private practice as a relationship and self esteem consultant. Maureen began her training with Virginia Satir in 1978. She is a Certified Motivational Coach, certified in hypnosis and is a Reike Master (Healing Touch).
